In the electric configuration, we use a Lesson brand motor in both 3ph and 1ph applications. This motor is explosion proof under class II, group F & G. They are both Hi/Lo voltage, 50-60 Hz motors, 1.25 SF with thermo auto reset. Some Canadian applications will require a weg motor with different specifications.
This motor is connected to a SPF Stone pump which operates at 2950 psi @ 2gpm. This SPF Stone pump drives a 6000 series Char Lynn Eaton hydraulic motor that turns the power shaft. The standard shaft has one universal joint next to the motor. This gives the worker good control of the tip without it being fishy. The driving tip is a standard taper 1 ½” down to ¾”.
The pneumatic version we use a Globe VA6C vane air-motor, bi-directional control system with a maximum continuous speed of 3000 rpm; the intermittent duty is 6000rpm. The axial loads are minimum. Airline filtration & lubrication are 64 microns and 6-7 drops per minute. (See operator’s manual) It will require 90 psi @ 70 cfm; you need a ¾” air line. The Globe 4hp air motor drives a Brevini power transmission that has a 315 to 1 ratio. The amount of torque is related to pressure. This Epicycloidal type transmission is fairly bullet proof. The shaft will turn 12 rpm with no load.
